February 18-19, 2023: Leaping flames. Sunflowers. Snakes twining through infinity and winding their way up the energy portals along your spine. A face gleaming like the sun, steadily gazing straight ahead with benevolence and confidence. Our fiery Queen of Wands turns up the heat in all dimensions and shows you how to do so, too.

This weekend, concentrate on your connection with planet Earth and the earth beneath your feet and with your root chakra, your energetic point of connection with Earth and your earthly manifestation in this lifetime.

Draw heat and power up through your feet, legs, and all of your primary chakras--spinning vortexes of etheric energy--warming, illuminating, enlivening them. Get an appointment for bodywork to keep your blood, lymph, and auric energies flowing freely. Wear and surround yourself with sun/fire colors, and dance vigorously to upbeat music.

If you've been feeling low and out of sorts, this is a good weekend to restore your appetite for life and laughter. The Queen will show you exactly where (and why) you need that boost, and you'll end up feeling a 100 times better!

 The Hermit

Tarot of the Four Elements

February 13-17, 2023: "Would you like another card to accompany you?" I asked. "No," came the swift reply. "I'm good."

The Hermit, like Greta Garbo, wants to be alone.

And so, staff in hand, The Hermit begins a journey, long or short, into the star-spangled night.

There are some journeys, we believe, that can only be faced with solitary resolve. But are we ever truly alone?

It came to me, when gazing at this card from Lerner and Ericksen's Tarot of the Four Elements, that those blazing stars may represent the spirits and spiritual forces that guide and protect. We are not even alone if we consider the many selves and elements we contain within ourselves. Every being dwells within community and is also a community.

Reach out and reach in deep. You may need peaceful solitude at this time. And delicious quiet. But you are lovingly held. And never alone.

I love, love, love this deck! And I'm thrilled to see Universe come up as the card of the week for a week that ends with my 70th birthday!

Let's just say there are stars all over you, and your spirit is all over the stars! You are a being of the universe, and the universe is within you!

Ten of Water

August 20-21, 2022: Thank Amy Ericksen for giving us a vision of Ten of Cups--or Ten of Water, as Isha Lerner would have it--that expresses delirium. More than celebration, more than the height of emotion, but out-and-out delirium. I mean, just look at that image!

Overall, I love the festive coloration of Ericksen's art for this deck. Like Beyoncé's Renaissance (yes, listen, if you haven't), it's a bold vision and damn good healing.

Of course, watch any inclination to over-indulge this weekend--whether it be with substances or emotional excess or expenditure of energy. But this Ten of Water really gives permission for a moment of release. Let go!

June 27-July 1, 2022: Another beauty from Isha Lerner and Mara Friedman's Triple Goddess Tarot. This card, Sanctuary, represents Tarot's High Priestess and is, decidedly, a warmly appealing one.

At the same time, I don't think you want to rush up and disturb her meditation.

Better to follow her example and take time for your own tuning in. She will meet you there.

June 13-17, 2022: I love this deliriously colorful mer-person and dolphin! They encourage us to flow into a new week heart-first.

This Tarot knight is on a mission of love, compassion, and creativity. Emotional as well as intuitive/psychic sensitivity might high for you now but should be safely attuned to purposeful aims.

Trust your gut--your instincts and clairsentience--a little bit more than you usually do. Embrace new dreams and seek out bold new ways to bring them into this world.

Remember that Tarot knights are doers. You must put your deepest-held values into practice or else they will just be rootless ideas and ideals. It's high time for manifestation!

Flying into Spring starts off Isha Lerner and artist Amy Ericksen's Triple Goddess Tarot with the exhilaration of flight and freedom. She is Tarot's Fool given new form, and she is a guide and model for all, no matter where you situate yourself on the gender spectrum.

Has your Spring taken off yet? Do you feel the airiness and the sense of new energies and possibilities?

If not, what is it that continues to weigh you down? Can you face it and handle it?  What is calling you today, and this week, to drop that weight and surf a current of fresh air?

Look for new opportunities, especially those you might have pushed aside in the past for whatever reasons. Perhaps the surrounding conditions have already changed while you were involved in something else and did not notice. Or perhaps you can find a key to make these opportunities work more in your favor and according to your particular needs and standards.

After all, you might be feeling new life rising up within yourself now.

November 24, 2021: Here's another colorful deck conceived by Isha Lerner whose Triple Goddess Tarot we enjoyed some days ago. This one, Tarot of the Four Elements, bears images created by Amy Ericksen. Today's card is Ericksen's version of The Star, an archetypal figure who simultaneously refreshes the waters and pours golden healing balm onto the land.

We are bedazzled by this celestial goddess, this strong, massive, yet meditative being! Our chants draw Her closer as our Earth surely needs all the help She can offer--and, as individuals, so do we.

When The Star graces a reading where you might have invoked the counsel of spirit beings, know that The Star represents support of the highest order, and that Her influence in your life is far-reaching. \

Today, you might find yourself connecting with just the right person--or persons or persons or an entire network or community--to aid you in your quest or mission, to collaborate with you, educate you or sustain you.

At the center of The Star's vast network, She gets things done by knowing exactly who and what to activate, and exactly how and when.

Sometimes The Star turns up in a reading to indicate that you serve this role. You are The Star, savvy and well-connected.

Ask yourself, which is it now? Are you seeking The Star? Or are you The Star today?

 Awakened Aphrodite

November 18, 2021: Awakened Aphrodite gives you life!

The Life Force--within and in which you dwell--always has surprises for you. You find gifts within yourself that you did not previously recognize or understand, and you find mirrors of yourself in your environment. This lifts you and moves your forward.

This is the deep and the cosmic erotic of many variable forms and shapes--ever available, if you are perceptive and receptive.

How will you manifest this Awakened Aphodite today?

I'll end by drawing your attention to the Goddess' two pairs of arms and suggest that you:

• consider gesture as practice in your contemplation of the Life Force
  
• notice how it feels to gaze at a being who has two pairs of arms--heady and disorienting? Do you feel it in your own body? Do you find yourself shifting awareness from one pair of arms to the other so that the other appears to temporarily disappear for you?

Beginning tomorrow, we will shift to one or more new decks and see what surprises they hold! Enjoy your Thursday!

CARD OF THE DAY: November 17, 2021

 

 Ancestors

November 17, 2021: Oh, my goodness, She tried it. She really did.

Following this morning's shuffle of the Triple Goddess deck, Flame of Surrender tried to piggyback onto another card--Ancestors. But Ancestors was the one to reach my fingertips first. 

So, with a knowing wink at this cheeky three-peat attempt by Flame of Surrender--who clearly seeks to continue guiding you deeper into the autumnal weather and mood--I present you with today's card, Ancestors.

Sharing much of the warm and gentle coloration of Flame of Surrender, this Ancient One, sitting in a lotus pose, dreams you forward. You are the flower of Her dream. You are the realization of your ancestors' dearest hopes.

So, do not doubt yourself, and do not falter. Reconnect with the dream, and be who you are meant to be. 

Are you taking time to dream in this way? Are you making time to cozy up inside your hermit's dreaming cave and bring through dreams that can create tomorrows?

Although the flowering of those dreams will surely involve and affect others, you need alone time, privacy, to do this initial receiving, conceiving and birthing work on your own.

We will have one last go-round with the Triple Goddess deck tomorrow, and I can't wait to see what She has to show us!

CARD OF THE DAY: November 16, 2021

Here we go, again!

November 16, 2021: You're not going to believe this but, when I shuffled the cards, the Triple Goddess' Flame of Surrender returned today!

I love it when cards underscore their message by showing up again in a separate random draw. Spirit says, "Are you listening? Make sure you listen this time!"

So, for today, I'm just going to direct you back (or, for some of you, for the first time) to yesterday's message. Maybe some fresh insights will emerge for you or earlier ones will clarify.
