CARD OF THE WEEK: July 18-22, 2022

Justice

The Nigel Jackson Tarot

by Nigel Jackson

July 18-22: Coming into the presence of the Justice archetype and energy, you have the opportunity to examine, assess, and adjust anything personal or external to you that needs reworking or discarding. Bring it to Mama Justice, and she will bring all of her powers of insight--through analysis, intuition, and wisdom--to bear on the situation.

In her high, airy realm, there are no distractions, and she faces you straight on, requiring you return her steady gaze. It's time for truth.

CARD OF THE DAY: March 4, 2022

la Giustizia (Justice)

below: card back

Tarocchi di Vetro

by Elisabetta Trevisan

March 4, 2022: Elisabetta Trevisan's beautiful and quite sturdy Tarocchi di Vetro features Major Arcana symbols as color-saturated stained-glass images. And just look at that intricate, exquisite card back!

There are no Minor Arcana cards in this deck, and it has always been, for me, solely a treasured collector's item.

Today, la Giustizia (Justice) calmly weighs all matters and renders an assessment that allows for confident movement forward. She interrogates all aspects of a situation and helps you carefully identify the pros and cons of any pending decision. She is not swayed by manipulation, and neither will she allow you to be. So, what in your life needs sorting today?

As a Major Arcana archetype, Justice is best approached regarding matters of significant importance, especially those with broad impact across different areas of your life. If your more immediate concern is a relatively minor one, you might want to consider how this concern fits into a larger pattern and how solving this small issue might offer a clue to solving others or a way to approach weightier matters.

Justice can easily connect the relevant dots and offer useful insights regarding what's fair and right and how to restore balance. Always ask with respect.

CARD OF THE DAY: January 27, 2022

Justice

from The Wild Unknown Tarot

by Kim Krans

January 27, 2022: At a quick first glance, this card from The Wild Unknown Tarot might look like an Ace of Swords, but it is really Justice.

The tip of the sword at the center of Kim Krans' image points towards and balances in the air over a small, geometrical object split into a dark half and a light half, just as the two kitty cats turning to gaze in your direction are color opposites--white and black. Their tails sweetly overlap. And there is no judgment in their difference--just difference. Both are needed here.

Krans conceived of this image as a reflection on Justice's exacting quest for harmony, for leveling the playing field, and correcting imbalances. As your Card for the Day, Justice could be asking you to find a way to take a little bit of everything and pull it all together. In doing so, you might make something larger, stronger, more durable, and certainly more interesting.

Aside from possibly asking for treats, like any cat will do, what might these felines be asking of you as they stare?

My wife gave me this Valentine's Day card in 2013!

CARDS OF THE DAY: January 5, 2022

The Chariot, Justice, and The Star

from Tarot for Cats

by Regen Dennis with art by Kipling West

January 5, 2022: Card of the day? Here, again, are three! Why not take your choice this time?

Pick your Card of the Day from Tarot for Cats, an absolutely charming Majors-only deck by Regen Dennis and artist Kipling West.

Will it be the supremely confident and focused Chariot Top Cat who knows where it's going and precisely how to get there?

Will it be the crafty tuxedo of The Star, slinking out of a star-filled night, taking its time while it feels out just the right moment to make its next move?

Or will it be our jaunty, well-balanced Justice cat whose sure paws can make it around the narrow rim of that tub without danger of a slip?

Oh, to have the moxie of a cat!

CARDS OF THE WEEKEND: December 4-5, 2021

Images from Millennium Tarot (from top):

Book cover (Temperance)

Six of Cups

World

Devil

Three of Swords

Justice

by Dorothy Simpson Krause (text by Marina Dubois)

November 4-5, 2021:  Although I'm showing you a multi-card sample of Dorothy Simpson Krause's Millennium Tarot, this weekend's cards are just the final two, the first I pulled at random--Three of Swords and Justice.

This is a handsome and sturdy deck with an antique golden glow and a vibe mixing opulence with an atmosphere of history (in this case, Eurocentric) and deep mystery. In the temple of Millennium Tarot, you bring your humble votive offering, seeking audience with divine forces. Be still and listen.

Perhaps you seek redress for a worrisome situation that brought you harm. Justice--the spirit of correction, restitution, balance--is there to set things right. Literally, this could be the intervention of a lawyer or judge or other higher authority whose decision could bring an outcome in your favor. The oracle could be advising you to, yes, seek legal counsel or to step up your efforts to get your matter attended to on a higher level.

On a psychological/metaphysical level, bring your complaint or worry to your own, internal Higher Self or to your Higher Power. Breathe deeply and release it where it can be dealt with from a more holistic vantage point. Again, be still now and listen to things you learn that you had never before considered.
