L'Empereur (The Emperor) and Letoille (The Star)

January 2, 2022: Elaine Moertl's precious Majors-only deck, Chat du Marseille, based on the historic Conver Marseille, brings charm to a dramatic encounter between two cards: L'Empereur and Letoille, Tarot's Emperor and Star.
Gazing into the past with a determined will to maintain its glory, The Emperor holds onto a realm and secures a system that has long kept that realm in strict order. The Star, on the other hand, facing The Emperor's back, brings the power of creative experimentation and integration of energies from many different sources, each greatly powerful in and of themselves.
While the expression "speaking truth to power" comes to mind as we look at these paired cards, our delightful Star is doing more than speaking to the heedless Emperor. There's a strong sense of manifestation here (as well as insistence that The Emperor turn around and look). So, another imperative expression is in order: "Show. Don't tell," as in: "Look, dude, I'll show you this works."
And work, it will.
The demonstration of a new source (or sources) of genuine and positive power is indicated by this narrative. There's also the possibility of actual fruitful collaboration with the earthly power of the Emperor, but it will require the Star's utmost clarity and resourcefulness in all matters. The Star brings wonderful surprises, too, and it's really to everyone's benefit to pay attention.
